Hello again, everyone! I hope you all had an excellent Christmas and New Year. Now all the holiday jazz is over, it's time to get stuck into sticking with our resolutions. One of mine is to get a little more serious with Mithril Wisdom, and so with that in mind I've gone for a blog redesign and reshuffle to make it a bit more sleek looking. There are still some things that need tweaking, but feel free to take a look around. Also, I've finally got my own URL for the blog! You can now go to www.mithrilwisdom.com and you'll end up here. Whoo-hoo!
To kick off 2012, here's a list of things that I'll be looking at and reviewing in the near future (all Christmas presents).
Books:
The Way of Kings (Part One) by Brandon Sanderson
Miscreation by Stefan Jakubowski
Games:
LEGO: Heroica
Castle Fortaan
Draida Bay
(You can combine these sets together so I'll do a single big Heroica review).
Music:
Under the Grey Banner by Dragonland
It feels great to be back and blogging again. Here's hoping that 2012 will be the year of taking things a little more seriously and making this blog even better!
What was your favourite gift this Christmas?

Best of luck in the new bloggy year!
ReplyDeleteMy favourite Christmas/Yule gift? Probably the one I haven't yet bought, actually. My father gave me a $200 Gamestop gift card so I can get myself a Wii. I haven't bought it yet because the store hasn't actually had any in stock for 2 weeks now, go figure. But wahen I finally get it, it'll be hard to pull me away from it!
@Ria: That's a damn good gift to receive. Be sure to try out Skyward Sword, it looks awesome!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year!! It's great to have you back and I love the new design. Gorgeous! I wish you all good things for this year and can't wait to see what you have in store.
ReplyDeleteRedesign looks great! A lego fan all my life, I'm looking forward to that review. Game reviews are always a ton of fun, we should both be doing more of them.
ReplyDeleteAs much as I enjoy your book reviews, I'll be interested in hearing what you think of the Heroica games. I've seen them around and think they look awesome. Of course, I'm bound to think that about anything that has a double bladed battle axe on the cover.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year...
Welcome back, Jamie! The new header looks awesome.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year - I like the new look. I look forward to following your posts this year.
ReplyDeleteWelcome back! The site is looking fab :) My fav gift was my little stuffed Simon's Cat toy from my son, I love that cat! :)
ReplyDeleteLooks nice and shiny here.
ReplyDeleteI've been considering trying Sanderson but am interested in hearing more about his stortelling skills. I'll be looking forward to your review.
Looks great! My favorite and only gift was my new dishwasher. No more dish pan hands for me.
ReplyDeleteLIke the new look blog :) The Way of Kings looks interesting. Hope you had a lovely Christmas!
ReplyDeleteHello - Happy New Year! Wow-this place looks great! You had a great haul for Christmas - looking forward to the reviews. I got a kindle, which was the best present ever as I've spent all week reading various blogger books :)
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to keeping up with you this year

ReplyDeleteOh, shoot, I almost forgot...I LOVE your new header!!! I've always loved swords, as well as Celtic design, and you have combined both BEAUTIFULLY in your new header!! KUDOS!!! : )
ReplyDeleteHi, Jamie! Thanks for dropping by and commenting!! Comments always make my day!
ReplyDeleteI deleted my first comment because in it, I recommended the game SKYRIM to you. After posting the comment, I went to your FB page, for some reason...and discovered that you had already reviewed the game in a previous post! Well, that tells me that I need to keep updated with your blog more often...
Santa brought my husband this game, and he LOVES it!! He plays video games while I'm blogging, so I've seen parts of the game. OMG, it's AMAZING. The graphics have simply blown me away! I'm not much of a gamer myself -- I have very little patience for that. Also, I get SO frustrated and angry when I don't win!!! Lol. However, I do appreciate games from an aesthetic point of view.
You got some truly AWESOME Christmas gifts!! You lucky guy!!! I'm especially interested in the books, which I will look up on Goodreads.
One of my co-workers gave me my favorite Christmas gift -- a Barnes & Noble gift card!!!! I promptly used it to get TIGER'S VOYAGE, by Colleen Houck, which is the third book in her fantasy trilogy.
Santa brought me COMFORT & JOY, by Kristin Hannah. It's a beautiful Christmas romance novel.
Sure hope you have a GREAT blogging year!!! : )
Love the new look of your blog. Very sleek. And I so want to play Lego: Heroica. All of the Lego games have been some of my fav's. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteA very nice simple and sleek design - love it! I also love that you review a range of things other than books! Can't wait to here what you think of WoK.
ReplyDeleteMany thanks to all of you for the kind words. I'll do my best not to let you down!
ReplyDeleteI've not seen much in the way of fantasy reviews that are non book/movie related, so I'll give it my best shot.
@Fantasy Nibbles: Nice! I love Simon's Cat. I've not seen the toys yet.
@Laura: Hope you like the Kindle! I'm still getting used to it as a reading device.
@Maria: Skyrim? Uh-oh, be prepared to not see him for 6 months! Sounds like you had an impressive haul of books too, hope you enjoy.
Love the new look! My fave present was the camera my husband got me. I've been wanting a 'real' camera with different lenses and stuff for a long time. Not that I know how to use it...
ReplyDelete@alexia: Nice! What kind of camera did you get? I've still to learn how to properly use my own (after 2 years of just 'point and shoot').
ReplyDeleteI love the new design Jamie, it looks great.
ReplyDeleteHope you had a great festive period :-)
I like the new look. It is sleek. I just had to click on your new URL too. Congrats!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite Christmas gift were the unexpected kindnesses of friends from out of the blue. I am humbled and honored by them, Roland
ReplyDeleteLike the clean design! And a belated Merry Christmas.
ReplyDeleteRead The Way of Kings earlier this year. My only regret is that I cannot forget it all and go back and experience it for the first time all over again.
I hadn't heard of those Lego games but I am very, very curious. May have to pick that up and give it a try.
YAY!!!
ReplyDeletewelcome back!
i love this blue color and texture of your new look.
