LEGO have announced that they will be releasing a Lord of the Rings LEGO theme this summer. The timing is well done, as it gives fans time to pick up sets from the original Rings movies before The Hobbit hits the cinemas in December. Well played, LEGO.
Not much official material has surfaced, though there are a few leaked images of Lego Lord of the Rings box art making the rounds. Officially, we've been given some promo shots that LEGO-ify the teaser posters for the movie trilogy (as you can see on the left) and we also get to see what the Fellowship will look like in LEGO form. It's shaping up quite well. The sets to be released this Summer are:
- Attack on Weathertop
- Battle of Helms-Deep
- Gandalf Arrives
- The Mines of Moria
- Shelob Attacks
- Uruk Hai Army
What scene from Lord of the Rings would you most like to see made into LEGO?

The final battle at Gondor would be cool...
ReplyDeleteThat would have been my pick too. I think a recreation of Minis Tirith in LEGO would be awesome.
ReplyDeleteare the lego games very fun? i'm videogame challenged, but my kids love them, and i'm always on the lookout for something they'd like...
ReplyDeleteI love the LEGO video games. The Harry Potter ones in particular are a lot of fun, as well as the indiana jones ones.
DeleteI would just be happy with a Gollum made of Lego :-)
ReplyDeleteThe Gollum model isn't all that great, but then again it must've been difficult to come up with something that matched that weird shape!
DeleteMy daughter loves Legos, and asked for them for her birthday. A friend of hers gave her 'Dora the Explorer' MegaBlocks, thinking there was no distinction between that and the Lego house sets. I watched her try to conceal her disappointment and express true gratitude, knowing she finds Dora babyish and MegaBlocks a sad substitute.
ReplyDeleteYour post made me think of all that ...
I share her disappointment. MegaBlocks pale in comparison to Lego. Some Lord of the Rings action would be much better :)
DeleteCute. I don't know what would be my favorite though.
ReplyDeleteThere are a lot of good bits to choose from. Let's hope bombadil doesn't show up!
DeleteHoly lord they are freekin awesome. i want the Gimli son of gloin one.

Hell be in the moria set with the cave troll. Looks like a good set :)
DeleteI love Lego! I wonder if they will make a Lego balrog?
ReplyDeleteThat would be awesome, though I'd be a teeny bit disappointed if it wasn't gigantic.
DeleteI wonder if they made the lego ghost army.
ReplyDeleteThose would look awesome! Inside the mountain where Aragorn summons them would look so cool.
DeleteI'm pretty sure I need to change my underwear now.
ReplyDeleteI had more or less the same reaction.
ReplyDeleteAll I can say is that it's about time.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't agree more :)
DeleteGuess I don't have a favorite scene since I can't remember LOTR. Damn! I really need to address this memory issue. In fact, I need to go back and watch the movies over again so I know where I left off at #3.
ReplyDeleteI'd really like to have the Lego sets. They'll be collector's items.
