Cherie Priest's Clockwork Century hits the UK (plus free extract)

Cherie Priest Clockwork Century book covers
After having all kinds of success in the States, Cherie Priest's Clockwork Century is finally being published in the UK.

I. Am. So. Excited. For. This.

Why is that? I hear you ask. There are three things that make up the Clockwork Century novels that have me biting at the bit.

1. Steampunk
2. Zombies
3. Steampunk zombies
Need I say more?

The first of the series, Boneshaker is being published by Tor UK on November 8th, with Dreadnought, Ganymede and The Inexplicables to follow in December, January and February.

But wait, there's more!

To celebrate the UK launch, Tor UK have release a free extract of Boneshaker that you can download as a PDF. Go stop what you're doing and have a read, because that's what I'm doing (leave a comment here first, of course, it's always nice to know you've stopped by).

Have you read Boneshaker? Does the thought of steampunk and zombies fill with you delight, or am I just being weird? You can tell me, I won't mind.

    1. I've been keeping an eye on them for a while :) Before now I'd have had to import them, which sucks. I'm glad to see them finally here :)

  2. I have not read these because I did not know much about them. I'm only just getting into Steampunk, but zombies here? I am so rushing out to get these.

  4. Have not heard of these but I don't read steam punk or zombies. I do however like to watch zombies and can't wait til this season of The Walking Dead comes to netflix. And of course you're not weird! That would be like someone calling me weird cuz I got all excited when I became Archmage of Winterhold in Skyrim :)

    1. Becoming Archmage of Winterhold is a hell of an achievement, definitely not weird :) I'm way behind on the Walking Dead (like most TV shows, actually) so I need to do some serious catching up.

    1. I think it's an excellent mix of two subgenres - I'm looking forward to getting my hands on these when they come out :)

    1. Thanks Talli :)

I had a good few people come to me who just couldn't comment on the blog anymore, so it had to go. Here's hoping they come back :)

  7. I actually have never read any steampunk. Shame on me! I think I do have Boneshaker lying around somewhere. I should really give it a try!

Not too sure I 'get' all the fuss over the UK release though, it's been available via Amazon for eons!

    1. True, but it's nice to be able to stroll into a local bookshop and pick up a copy (mine wouldn't get it without jacking up the price for an import).

  11. I'm so glad to see these books here. My little brother gave me Boneshaker for Christmas last year, which just goes to show he's got me pegged. I'd never even heard of it before. The others in the series are on my list :)

  12. Guess what! I got to meet her and attend a bongo reading with her in it (at Mile Hi Con). She's really nice and a cool gal who does tons of research to have accurate details. I haven't read her books yet (and there was apparently a markup on signed books at this Con, so I didn't buy any by anyone), but I'm going to check out her books and hopefully she'll go to a Con where it doesn't cost extra to have a signed book.

  13. I personally HATE zombies -- forever (they freak me out like nothiing else does) -- but even then I loved Dreadnought. The detail! The Steam! The believable alternate history (I'm an historian, so yeh)!, the down-to-earth-so-not-damsel-in-distress heroine! I started to read Dreadnought one because of the Sword&Laser show on Youtube, and because the books were suddenly in my local bookstore, but I'll continue because I'm sure the other ones are just as awesome as the one I just read
