So this is the new look of the blog. What do you think? Almost everything has changed and been given a fresh lick of paint. Here's a quick run down of what's new:A new Mithril Wisdom logo.Rather than the sword/ celtic ring motif, the book/mithril ring look works a lot better.
A new header to go with it.
Brand new profile and cover images for my Facebook Page and Google Plus Page.
A custom background.
Brand new social media icons on the sidebar.
A bunch of ad buttons that I can use on Project Wonderful
All this was designed by Miriam E Lewis, and my thanks go to her to doing it. There'll also be a slight change in direction for the blog, though not really.
Fantasy book reviews will still be my top priority, but with my lack of time to read these are now few and far between. So I've decided to have this as a geek culture blog as well, where I can share the random slices of geek finery that I find. I more or less do this anyway; this just makes it official.
If you've any feedback about the new look/layout of the blog, good or bad (especially bad) let me know in the comments. There are one or two things I'm unsure of, so I really appreciate your feedback. Please put in your thoughts.
Love the new look! Great job!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sunny! Much appreciated!
ReplyDeleteI love the new look. It's a nice clean design which is easy to read.
ReplyDeleteThanks Lynda. Glad you like it :)
ReplyDeleteall looking very swish. the social media icons that match the style of the main logo are excellent. has the background always been that sort of off-salmon colour? not keen on that. i think the text directly underneath the blog title might be a little small/unclear, but I accept that might be due to my less than perfect vision. but yeah, good!
ReplyDeleteLooking considerably more readable and sensible than my rubbish blog. Looking fwd to the geeky section of your blog!
ReplyDeleteI think it looks great, Jamie! Like you said - a fresh coat of paint.
ReplyDeleteWell Done!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat and lovely look
Congrats to Miriam and you
Keep inform

Hey Ash, glad you like the social media buttons, they are my fave part :)
ReplyDeleteThe off-salmon is from the book in the logo but I agree, I might desaturate it and brighten it just a but to be a bit more papery. Also, good point on the little text, I think I might switch it for the blog's font which'll work a bit better at a small size. Ta butt!
Thanks Terry :) I could always take a look over your blog if you'd like?
ReplyDeleteThanks Philip :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Lynda, clean was my main aim. Something a bit smarter than what was there :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Sunny, glad you like it. :D
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you like it Alex, I know your name well from Jamie so, yeah, thanks :D
ReplyDeleteLooks great, very clean and inviting.

Looks good. I've been thinking of sprucing up my little blog over the holidays too. And I'm all about the geek culture, so bring it on.
ReplyDeleteLove the new logo! And love the fact that you're showcasing some geek culture alongside the books, since that's so central to so many of our lives. (Well, central to my life, at least. :p)
ReplyDeleteThumbs up!
ReplyDeleteNice, but doesn't scream you, Jamie. I loved your first, original blog design from a year or so ago best, that one was fantasy and sf :)
ReplyDeleteI think it looks fantastic. Well done!
ReplyDeleteLooks great! I feel your pain on not having as much time as you'd like for reading and reviewing. Let the geek culture blogging begin!
ReplyDeleteTo be honest, I kind of miss the dark blue color you had before but the new design is cool, too. :) I especially like the ring and book logo and the way it's integrated into the social networking buttons in the sidebar.
ReplyDeletelove anything geeky :)
ReplyDeleteI like it very much! Congrats to you. She did a really nice job on the design and I like the color choices. They work well together and it is different than what I see all around the 'net. Very nice!
ReplyDeleteJaims! Doin' a little happy dance. Your girl wizard is in da house!
ReplyDelete(Okay that was dorky. But I'm here, present and accounted for. And I too love all the changes. :))
Looks lovely :)
