Authors and publishers take note - this is how to make a good book trailer.
I've not read anything by
Peter V. Brett, though I've heard a lot of good things, particularly for
The Painted Man. His books have been in my vision for a while but I've never really given them much attention. The trailer for his latest novel
The Daylight War makes me want to play catch up pretty damn quickly.
Illustrated by
Dan Kitchener, who also worked on the video game
ZombieU, the trailer teases the ongoing war between humanity and demons. It looks great and the linked motion between scenes is very nice. I may have to grab hold of a copy of
The Painted Man and
The Desert Spear so I can read this too!
The Daylight War is the third book in Peter V. Brett's Demon Cycle, published by
Harper Voyager UK on February 11th, 2013.
What do you think of the trailer for The Daylight War?
Could it be??? A cool book trailer???
ReplyDeleteIt's a rare beast, for sure, but they can happen :)
DeleteI've been waiting for this book for a long time. I loved the first two. They're brutal, gritty and fast moving.
ReplyDeleteI need to get my hands on these somehow. I'll have to pop to the local library, methinks :)
DeleteYou know why it's cool - it's ANIMATED. Makes all the difference.
ReplyDeleteThat's true. A lot of live action trailers are pretty over the top and cheesy. This works perfectly.
DeleteHave not heard of these, but I like dark and gritty reads. And, yeah, having a cool narrator's voice on the trailer doesn't hurt. :)
ReplyDeleteAgreed! The narrator's voice makes it a much more compelling book to pick up.
DeleteThe Painted Man is amazing, it's in my top 3 :)
ReplyDeleteThe Desert Spear..well...I hated it, I mean...I really, really hated it.
So much so that I have no urge to bother with The Daylight War. But I'd love to know what you make of the series.
I've heard similar things about The Desert Spear - shame :( I'll still give it a go once I put a dent in my TBR pile :)
DeleteI love the cover and I loved the covers for his previous books too! I heard his books are really good.
ReplyDeleteI'm not that much of a fan of the third cover, but I really like the other ones.
DeleteAre book trailers generally duds, then?
ReplyDeleteIn my experience, they're not too great. Usually a very cheesy live action trailer or a badly cobbled together half-assed attempt. This is pretty awesome, though.
DeleteThat is definitely a good trailer! His book covers are gorgeous. I'm not going to lie, whenever I think of having to make a book trailer one day, I get nervous. Not my forte. My favorite funny one is by Libba Bray. She has a great sense of humor. I'll have to post that one to my blog one of these days. Maybe for [Mostly] Wordless Wednesday this week?
ReplyDeleteShannon at The Warrior Muse
Good thinking - I'd love to see it :) This has been one of my favourite ones so far. Brent Weeks' The Black Prism is my favourite live action book trailer.
